So I have taken up a new hobby...sewing. Oh how I love sewing! There is something about it that is so calming and therapuetic. While my dad was up visiting a few months ago, he taught me some basic stitches and so began the start of my new love and obsession. I started with a pillow for Eleanora's room, which was quite easy once I was shown the proper stitches.
This gave me confidence to move on to sewing a covering for an old table that needed some sprucing up.
Then I tried my hand at extending some curtains I had bought for Eleanora. I used the same fabric as the covering for the table and they turned out quite nicely!
Then I tried sewing some burp cloths, which I found were much easier than I anticipated and oh so cute!
Then I spent a afternoon sewing some "baby legs". The benefit of these is that they act like tights and help keep the baby warm, without all the hassle. Because they only go up to the top of the leg, you can change a baby's diaper without having to remove them. Genius!
This is what they look like on a baby, but they are quite expensive to buy.
I found out that you can find socks on clearance at Target for $1. So to sew these baby legs literally costs $1 each plus the cost of thread. I would say that's a bargain!
There are a few more projects that I want to get done before the baby arrives, but now I have some extra help thanks to my wonderful parents. For Christmas they have bought me my very first sewing machine!
I can't wait to get started! Now I just have to figure out how to use it! :)
